It's one way to pass the time. Bring portable table. Play chess

Is this recent? Years ago, some GO cars did have tables for a short period of time. Notice how there's no armrests between the seats? They were removed to make it easier to get in and out of the window seats. Also, under the tables, there were regular AC power outlets. GO thought people would like the tables to do work, but most peeps complained of how awkward it was to navigate around them, so they were removed.

Ok, history lesson over.

I was wondering why some seats in the upper level of the older coaches had no arm rests...

Imagine the drama that would be created with tables. People eating stinky food or hogging the table with their shopping. No thanks.

I don't know how old the pic is. It was emailed to me. I also am glad the tables are gone!

I remember these damn tables! It was near impossible to climb over a person sitting in the aisle seat without giving them a lap dance in the process.

This just reminded me of an incident from 10 years ago. A guy got on the train in the summer with an electric fan. He set it on the table, plugged it in and turned it on. He kept exclaiming "It's going to be a hot one!" As the fan oscillated, it was rustling everyone's newspapers. A lot of looks were exchanged but not a single person said anything.

LOVE the fan story and YES, I do remember the tables as well. Also, I don't seem to see any of the monitors/screens on the poles anymore either.

@lswgirl13: The company that installed those monitors (TVs) went bankrupt before they could become fully operational. Out they went.

Hmmmmmm, thanks for the info. Some trains still had them last year, just not operational.
