A pleasant instragram exchange with a foot rider

Don't get your hopes up.

It went downhill pretty fast.

I realize the "I weep for your self-entitled generation" was a bit much but I love saying that to the youngsters behaving badly to see what kind of reaction I get.

Nine times out of ten, it's always thrown back at me (as underlined in the screenshot) that my generation raised their generation when I am barely old enough to have given birth to their generation. Technically, I suppose I could have birthed out a 21 year old when I was 18 but then that implies that all teenage moms are screw-ups and raise bad kids, which is totally not true. I'm married to a wonderful man born when his mom was 17 and he is far from rude or discourteous.

At least I try to show these kids the error of their ways. But not once has any foot rider ever said to me, "Hey my bad, just had a long day and wanted to relax. I won't do it next time - sorry."

Not once.

I really don't get whatthe big deal is......the seats get cleaned. You need a hobby. Seriously.

That's all you've got? "You need a hobby?"

At the end of each run, trains are either put out of service or reset to run in the opposition direction. There isn't a crew waiting on the platform at the end of the line who clean the train from top to bottom before people board for the next service. Trains are supposedly cleaned each night but I've seen with my own eyes that is not always the case.

So, when you get off that train after having rubbed your dirty shoes on a seat cushion, a person boarding gets to sit in your dirt and take that dirt home with them.

That's the big deal.

How lovely to live in a childish world of entitlement filled with glitter coated fairies - the Seat Fairies that clean the seats after each run, the Fashion Fairies who make sure you can concentrate on social iteractions with only the well dressed people in labelled clothing...
With such an obvious deficit in social habits and perception of how the real world works, the foot rider and the anon commentator above are riding for a fall...
I get no satisfaction out of the certainty that they will eventually be shocked to discover that reality hates them in mean ways... But I would if I could be there when it happens...

The seats are not cleaned hourly or even daily! I would guess maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

I took the train yesterday (Saturday) and I passed four quads because the seats were cruddied up with dirty foot gook.

Do these morons think I enjoy sitting in other people's crap? NOOOOO! Keep the frickin' feet on the floor where they belong.

*rant over*

CJ you are a lot more diplomatic than I would be.

As an aside, I was trying to get off the morning train into Union when a woman with a suitcase the size of a pickup was trying to elbow her way onto the train as we were trying to get off. When I got to the door I simply stood there while she tried to get around me.
Eventually she got the message and got out of the way of the people getting off. One of the rare times I didn't have a remark for someone like her. Monday morning problem I suppose.

This girl needs a wakeup call from the riders around her. What a slob. I hope she reads this blog so I can say kiddo, you are a slob.

Oh and Anonymous, on what planet do your trains get cleaned after every trip?

Moron. Another idiot who has no clue about manners and common decency.

Look before you sit. If the seat is dirty, don't sit. This argument is embarrassing.

Re: look before you sit etc., if no one said shit to foot riders, we would all be standing and I am not okay with that. We're not talking $3 fares here and ten minute rides so the argument has a lot of merit. Some of us pay well over 300 a month to ride, we should not to be embarrassed to ask for courtesy and respect. F$CK!
Even better, these little shits band together and troll me on Twitter. I'm embarrassed for them. Its pathetic, laughable and I thank the Christmas baby Jesus I was brought up to be better than that.

GO transit doesn't clean the seats every night. With 100s of train cars and only a dozen or so cleaners then can't do all that in 8 hours.

Losers like that women at the instagram need to be pushed in front of the tracks and let Darwin's natural selection do its work.

C.J. Smith said...

As much as I dislike it, I don't think people deserve to die because of it.

At the very least you could of blacked out the user name. Loser.

First, a grammar lesson: *could have*

Why? This was all conducted in a public forum.

What makes it not so when posted here?

Let's replace the current seats with stainless steel seats, and automatic cleaning at the end of the runs. LoL

C.J. Smith said...

No way. If anything would force me back into a car, that would be it.

Seat Fairies! Love that.

And the cleaners barely make a dent in cleaning up the newspapers and food wrappers that are left by the rude, self-entitled people that ride the train.

As for Anon: probably the same idiot that puts feet on seats, leaves garbage laying around and supports the yahoo with pot.

"but then that implies that all teenage moms are screw-ups and raise bad kids, which is totally not true."

Thanks for that!

I was a teenage mom and gave birth to my (now 23 year old) daughter when I was just past my 17th birthday. She is a lovely young woman with fabulous manners, a good sense of right and wrong, and respect for other people.

And I would knock her head off her shoulders if caught her with her feet on the seats!
