Why is it that those of us who leave from Oshawa always get the shaft?

I'd like to share what I wrote on GO Transit's Official Facebook page:

The LSE issues this morning could have been handled better in regards to those departing from Oshawa who were unaware that the 7:15 and 7:53 trains had been cancelled.

The 7:00 train had been holding at Oshawa and left at 7:49, only to sit outside Whitby for 2 minutes. How difficult would it have been to hold that train for four extra minutes at Oshawa for those who thought it was the 7:53?

People aren't supposed to be checking mobile devices as they drive to the station and those who were on buses, weren't even told by drivers of the delays/cancellations. This is pretty rotten customer service.

Those people left standing on the platform this morning at Oshawa deserve a text message apology. I was lucky enough to be on the train but how this was handled wasn't fair to those who were not.

I'm signed up for the email/text notifications and would say that I am rarely notified of delays and if I do, the time is usually AFTER the delay has already come and gone.

I figure the reason for sending out notifications AFTER the delay is only so that GO can say that they are communicating and are therefore fulfilling one of their news Customer Service Commitments.

I get the text maessage for the afternoon trains. They cancelled the 5:10 once and I never received a text that told me that.

I normally board that train at Whitby - and we didn't get any notification of any cancellations. I thought the 7am train was my normal train, and it was only when I got a grovelilng apology at Union that I realised it wasn't.

I agree, GO should have held it a few extra minutes and turned it into the 7:53, and "cancelled" the earlier train.

I was on that train, we left well before 7:49. We were into union by 8:30, even with the other speed reductions and brief stops. I thought we left by 7:30.
I took the subway up to Bloor and walked 10 minutes and I was still at work by 9:00, so no way it was 7:49.

Okay so I checked my outbox, looks like I emailed my boss at 7:36, so I'm wrong (I know, unbelievable) we were not gone by 7:30.

I was watching a really good movie so I wasn't really concerned that we weren't moving. Sorry!

Try taking a train in India. GO service is good. The occassional delay or cancelled train is going to happen. And about those Enews messages....do you expect to hear about delays BEFORE they happen??? When did GO ever advertise that they employ psychics? Their service has improved alot over the past few years. But they're not miracle workers.

India!? we shouldn't be comparing anything in Canada to India, except Brampton maybe.
