You know what sucks?

People who see a kid get on a morning rush hour train and roll their eyes.

Don't be so quick to judge.

My 6 year old accompanied me to work today as she's spending the weekend at my parents who live in the Bloor West Village area of Toronto. This was the best way to get her to them as my mother just had to drive over to Queen and Yonge to pick her up.

My daughter sat quietly in a seat with a movie on my Blackberry and headphones with nary a peep. Why? Because I know how to keep my kid in line.

You're welcome.

Do people really roll their eyes when they see a well-behaved child on the train?

There is a mom and daughter (who is under the age of 4) that ride my early trian in the morning. Never a peep out of them.

When I first got on? Yep.

I don't roll my eyes until the kid starts misbehaving. And the eye-rolling isn't for the kid. It's for the parents. You can't let your kids run wild at home and expect them to suddenly act like angels in public. Discipline, people, discipline.

I'm with Jen. There are tons of well-behaved children out there and lots of obnoxious little brats. I'll hold the eye-rolling until the child starts acting up and/or whining.

There's a chick on my TTC express bus who brings her kid to work most days. With a laptop. Without headphones. So we're all blessed to hear her kid alternately screaming for mommy's attention (Mommy is ALWAYS on phone calls) or being 'pacified' with a Barbie DVD the whole bus gets to share.

On another subject, since when did kids ride in strollers until 5 or 6? The brat in question is perfectly capable of walking, but mommy sticks her in a stroller which blocks the whole bus. I've noticed a lot of that lately - older kids in strollers.

I wonder if the eye rolling is b/c two working parents require thier children to get up super early compared to the eye-rollers own up bringing. Two incomes becoming the norm for many families.

Yeah! Right on!

I was like, don't judge my kid. Damn.

I have noticed the older kid in strollers...and not those small collapsible ones that you take to the CNE for when they eventually wear themselves out.

Commented on it a few times and got the eye-rolling from the parental unit accompanying the child.

I've noticed the same thing about kids riding in strollers and they look like they are kindergarten age. God people . . . CUT THE CORD!!!

Last night, I had the displeasure of riding in a GO car with a 2 year old. (I'm guessing.) The shriek that kid put out there multiple times almost split my eardrums. Meanwhile, the mother was on the cell phone for almost the whole trip. Ugh. And yes, there was lots of eye-rolling by many passengers.

This is NOT how I parent.

I'd have gotten a swift kick in the ass! And guess what . . . I grew up respecting and loving my parents, I still do to this day.

@lswgirl13 - me too!

But mind you, all my parents had to give was "the look" and we were back in line.
