Door Donkey Battle - the saga continues

Am on 510 lse. Third coach I think. Anyway, two female door donkeys right in the door with their bags and purses on the floor in front of them. Very narrow space to get onto the train. One door donkey doesn't move after I ask her to move, just keeps reading her paper. I pick up her purse and shove it at her and tell her it's one thing to stand because you don't want to sit, it's another to stand and put your shit in the way so you can claim your spot at the door. It's rude. I'm sick of this crap and I shouldn't have to walk through people or over people's stuff to board a train that isn't full yet. Why can't these asses wait on the platform??? I get you like to stand but how about us who like to sit? Why not just let us get by?? So door donkey is mad I touched her "property" and starts giving me attitude and picking a fight and she's mad because I decided to sit right where I can look at her.

I tell her that she purposely blocked the doorway. That it's dangerous too because someone could trip. So as the train moves out of union, her and her donkey friends regress to high school and start talking about me and laughing. I don't care. I made my point. I don't get these people. We need to start fighting back. I used to think I was the only one irritated by this crap until I found your website. Why is it so hard for these women to move out of the way??? The CSAs need to start babysitting these inconsiderate idiots. How about some courtesy messages to let people board and not block the doorways and aisles with purses and bags? Thanks for letting me vent.

It's stories like these that only prove why I think it's amazing what we tolerate on a train. Very few of us say anything because we don't want a confrontation. Honestly, it shouldn't come down to this. It's quite sad actually. Blocking the doors is frustrating but appears many door donkeys can't see why.
I also find many door donkeys to be bullies.

I'm sure the Door Donkey's will come on here to defend this pathetic behaviour!!

I love that picture. It's the best.

I am not one for confrontations, but I am to the point where I think I might snap if someone peeves me off enough. *sigh*

We need door donkey business cards to give people with a number where they can learn public etiquette

The solution to this is simple. Go to another door. Go to another coach. Get your butt on the platform earlier? It's not our problem that u don't know how to play the game. Sorry.

No, the solution is this simple.

Chuck her crap off the train. When she gets off to retrieve it, you make your way onto the train unhindered.

But then again, I am at the point where I may snap. And I do not have bail money.

@Anon: a 12-car train carries close to 2,000 people, but only has 24 doors. That two dozen people can block all the doors for the remaining 1,976 people. Standing in doorways is just plain rude.
If someone's standing in the doorway at my office or at a shop, I ask them to get out the way - I don't go round to another door. Why should the train be any different?

I'll bail you out Squiggles!

Anon8:41 - The solution is simple. Learn some f#@k'ing manners, common courtesy is something that people seem to be lacking these days!

I loathe humanity. If I didn't like fresh air so much, I'd be a hermit.

Hey Dalton, you probably would have done better with an Election Promise to promise to rid the GO Trains of Door Donkey Bullies than an empty promise us a refund of our fare for late trains (which we would have to pay for eventually with higher taxes, higher fares or reduced service (and god forbid more Door Donkeys)).

First of all, none of us appreciated being singled out on this website. A website most of us enjoyed until it became personal. Riding the train is all about strategy and also, those who sit, aren't you blocking the chair from someone who wants to sit, too??? It's the same bullshit. Give up your space and I'll give it up mine. End of story.

Do you see us attacking the cellphone talkers or the smelly perfume people? No. Because we know how to get along with things that bother us. So perhaps some of you need to learn. Not all of us block the doors. Some take it to the extreme but most of us do let you guys get by. Where's our thanks? Right, too selfish. Give me a break. Use your mouth and ask people to move. Problem solved.

One day I want to eat like .. a pickled herring and garlic sandwich for lunch, and forget deodarant. Oh and maybe for a bit of extra spice I'll forget to shower that morning. And smoke while I'm on the way to Union. On this day, with my toxic herring-garlic-b.o.-smoke stench, I will come JUST before the train is about to leave and stand RIGHT beside the door donkeys.

Don't worry other commuters, I don't think the smell will travel too far. Hopefully it will just mortify the door donkeys. Subversive tactics.

No I kid, I can't bring myself to do this. But a girl can dream.

Please explain in 150 words or less why I am obligated to allow you a soapbox? I think the masses made their point. Nothing you wrote makes sense.

@ Door donkey bitch:

It is only personal because you have seen yourself or your actions potrayed on this site. I couldn't point you out in a crowd based on any description or hell, even the extremely blurry picture the other day. Maybe if you didn't feel so guilty about your actions, you wouldn't feel the need to justify your actions to all and sundry.

And, upon reading the post again, the person in question DID ask the donkey to move aside so they could pass. They were ignored. I have asked people to let me by and have been ignored. So this does disprove your point, so you may need to rethink your arguement.

At lswgirl: Yay! see you in the news paper one day :)

I've got your back Squiggles and I'm a fan of everyday rebellions!

DDbitch#1 - I too can't stand the smelly people, the loud talkers, etc. but in your blocking-the-door-world, I wouldn't even be able to get on the train to dislike these people!

Dear DDB #1

An argument consisting of you pointing fingers at other etiquette trespassers is no argument at all. I can't even be bothered by these other people you mention because you block the entrance to the train! A person sitting is not blocking the thruways on the train REQUIRED for one to move around safely.

Let's deal with each of these people one group at a time. You're up first, considering you NEED to enter the train first.

One more thing, DDB #1.

About this site being personal, it's not, it's about the behaviours of a GROUP of people, not a SINGLE individual, hence not personal.

I used to be a departure door donkey, but I stopped by rude behaviour because I finally understood how other people feel about it.

How about *YOU* get *YOUR* entitled butt out of the doorway so, oh I don't know, *THE REST OF US WHO TAKE THE TRAIN* can get the hell on? It's not like a seat you can sit in and claim.

The last thing many of us tired people want to deal with at the end of the day is people standing in front of doorways blocking the way in *WHILE THE TRAIN IS LOADING*. DD's and regular riders can easily co-exist in a balanced ecosystem, as long as DD's get and stay out of the way at the stations. Stand in them all you want if the train is moving.
