Tonight's Gong Show qualifies for a refund

Some CSAs on LSW, Stouffville and LSE corridors have made announcements encouraging passengers to apply for a GO Transit Service Guarantee for a refund.

You can fill out the form here. You have seven days to submit a claim. Tonight would be premature as the trips have yet to be entered into the system. I suspect that the claims will be in the thousands so pace yourself.

My train was 40 minutes late on the LSE. I hopped on the 4:53 pm train.

I heard through tweets, emails, facebook and text messages that any train scheduled after 5:10 pm was a rolling vessel to no where. In fact, people were annoyed those trains weren't canceled so they could make alternate arrangements, take TTC or buses to places outside of the downtown core; or just be inside Union to grab some dinner rather than be held hostage on a train as it sat across from the Distillery District for two hours.

As of 9:10 pm the person behind the wheel of GO Transit's twitter account said service was gradually improving.

More about what happened here.

I was on the 5:10 out of Union. The first idea I had that anything was seriously wrong was a text from GO saying service had resumed and that delays were about 30 minutes. All we got from the CSA on the train was that we were waiting for signals, and waiting, and waiting. I finally got to Pickering at 6:50.

Richmond Hill train (19:40) was ok - only slightly delayed...

I was on the 17:20 - left 10 mins late, and then sat outside Union until after 7pm. We ended up precisely 111 minutes late.

I just checked if my trip qualifies and got a big yellow question mark with a "We’re not sure yet. Eligibility information is not available for this trip right now; please check back later."

At least I tapped within the 15 minute window.

I was about 45 minutes late. I think. I don't know. I lost track of time.

The announcements this morning said that there was a few different things that went wrong last night. And that the trips qualified for the rebate.

Anyway, was I ever glad I took yesterday off.

Yup, was on the 520 out of Union (to Ajax), train was 10 minutes late and we sat forever just outside of Union. I would have much preferred pulling back into Union and finding alternative ways to get home. Train was also short a couple of cars and packed from floor to ceiling. Also had to get to a washroom but all the folks I squeezed by were quite nice about it. Got to Ajax 2 hours late. Not a fun time.

Also on the 4:53 last night. I checked the boards when I got to Union Station & the only delay showing was for Lakeshore West, so I hopped on. By the time I figured out we were going to be awhile, my husband was already waiting for me at Pickering station. He was not impressed. I heard other people took two hours to get home.

This explains it then. I took the 17:30 Richmond Hill last night and was wondering why there were so many people on the platform as there aren't usually that many people there..

On the 17:35 LSE to Pickering. Left Union at 17:42 and then sat outside by the Distillery District until about 19:45... They should have NEVER let passengers on the train in the first place. Hostage for over 2 hours...

I lucked out and got the last train out of Dodge before the meltdown. :)

At least this can't be blamed on GO or Metrolinx. You can all thank the city for last night's "inconveniences".

I'm sure though that there will be complaints about GO though.

I was on the 18:43 LSE train to Oshawa. It pulled half way out of Union, stopped, and sat there, with periodic announcements about "signals". Finally after 30 minutes they announced that the train would roll back to the platform and go out of service and that the TTC protocol was in effect. Thanks GO! Why they put us on a train knowing there were delays in progress is beyond me.
