subject:NOPE ON THE GO TRAIN

Hi CJ
Worked late. Got on LSE train. Walked down to find a seat. Sat down. Looked down and NOPE. I couldn't bring myself to zoom but you have to trust me when I say this is a dead cockroach. A huge MotherLovin cockroach. CHECK YOUR BAGS!
This may change your outlook on bag riding. I spent the whole train ride convinced cockroaches were crawling on my body.

Am so grossed out right now. Ick. I think stuff will be stored in the garage.

It probably hitched a ride on someone who works in a restaurant. I wouldn't worry folks.

Yeah, I was grossed out by what looked like a fingernail clipping on the floor.

But yeah, ick on the bugs. *shudder*

It's not the dead ones you have to worry about.

Pretty big for a cockroach. I didn't think they were that big in Ontario. It could also be something else.

Looks like a baby compared to the one I once saw in the washroom at Union....last time I ate at Harvey's there!

I recently saw one at Union Station by the stairs in front of Cinnabon. It was only half dead. They're taking over!

All the new construction is forcing the vermin and rodents to abandon their normal hiding places and head out on the road looking for a new home.

The ones you see are only a small fraction of the ones you can't see. I've seen many rats heading north and south on Bay and York since the construction began. I once saw a bug that I think was a cockroach in the York west teamway that I thought could take me down arm wrestling.
The subway tunnels are teeming with rodents now. The access tunnels under Union are worse. Hope they have an exterminator on call.

As someone who has a cockroach allergy (I was tested about a year ago since I have asthma!) And not knowing the extent of this allergy as well as what it is in cockroaches that I'm allergic to (they're not sure if they have to touch you or poop on you).... This disturbs me. I don't carry an epipen as I don't generally expect to see cockroaches around... But apparently while riding GO I should consider this.

@KM

I have several severe asthmatics in the family, one of which tested as allergic to roaches. She does not carry an epipen. But, keep in mind, depending on what you take for asthma medications (steroids), it does mess with the test results. There are times where it says she is not allergic to dogs, when being around them can send her into an attack.

Best advice: keep a weather eye on the roaches. They will probably not send you into anaphylaxis, it will probably only bring on an asthma attack. Not the best, but easier to handle.

Don't worry about the crockroaches, it's the bed bugs that'll get you!

Believe it or not, cockroaches are actually pretty easy to kill.
You'll need tissue paper and a willingness to press hard against a hard surface once you grab up the little miscreant with the tissue.
Make sure you maintain a good grip once you snatch the little bastard up, as they are very emotional creatures and panic very easily ...and make sure, when you squash them, that you press real hard against a solid surface as they have very hard outer-skeletal structures.
