Starbucks coming soon to your GO Station? How about a Longo's

Metrolinx seeks partners to operate retail or restaurants in GO stations.

Could there one day be a Tim Hortons, McDonald’s or grocery store at your local GO station?

Metrolinx is now seeking new strategic partner opportunities, the Star has learned, meaning various companies could eventually set up shop at GO stations across the region.

No disrespect to Ms. Aikins, because anyone can see she is friendly, well meaning and more than competent in her job, but...

“We’re always trying to find more sources of non-fare revenue, so (we’re) less reliant on the fare box to fund transit expansion. This would help us do that as well,” she said.

Maybe she could remind people higher up that, at $45 a pop for smoking infractions, and a conservative count of at least 15-20 smokers at one station in a 10 minute time period, enforcement of smoking regs might add to the revenue stream while, at the same time, you know, paying for more enforcement officers and, you know, lowering smoking and thereby living up to th e promise of a safe transit experience...

I honestly feel it's Metrolinx who is the problem here. Not necessarily Ms. Aikins
