Took the GO to the Toronto FC game yesterday. I really do NOT have journalistic instincts. We went through Eglinton station and did I think to get photos of the one track all torn out so they could dig their holes for the new tunnels? Nope! *hanging head in shame* I did think about it coming home but it was getting too dark to take a decent photo.
 
Aaaaannnd, I have to say, there's a shit show of construction happening at Exhibition station. Thousands of people lined up to get through the doors to the westbound platform. So I was lined up to use the ONE Presto machine I could find (right near the blocked off area for getting to the eastbound platform and west of the doors to the WB platform) but there was too many people, so I figured I'd just use the one on the other side of the tunnel. Well, after fighting my way through the crowd (feeling like a salmon swimming upstream) I get to the other side where I can access the EB platform, only to find out there's NO PRESTO MACHINE!! There was only the one on the other side of the doors. What the what??? Decided to say screw it and just ride to Union. (Yeah, I say that's payback for paying full fair Friday night and getting kicked off the train at Scarborough. No credit forthcoming.) I had to wait for the next (EB train anyway so I went downstairs at Union (through the new York concourse), got food and tapped my card there (over at the Bay side). How can there only be ONE Presto machine at the EB side of Exhibition???

I'll be writing a letter to customer service.

It was just me and another woman when I spotted Charlie.

Charlie was big, menacing and possibly carrying a firearm. I was taking no chances.

I didn't even have to ask others to clear the area. It was just assumed. One stomp and it was over. I didn't even move the body. 

"Are you sure he's dead?" The woman asked me as she sat down next to me, clutching her purse to her chest. 

"He is," I whispered. I was still crouched down and fighting the rise of bile as I made sure there was no movement. I slowly rose up and sat down, exchanging silent nods of relief with the other witnesses.

We stayed silent about our crime as others boarded the train coach we were on. A woman sat down very close to the body and we all cringed, but still, no one said a word. 

What you don't know can't hurt you.

Are you a Bramalea GO bus passenger? Do you recognize this man?

GO Transit/Metrolinx has assured me they are working with the proper authorities and their Transit Safety Officers on this case. Our safety and comfort remains their number one priority.

This upstanding citizen was filmed pleasuring himself as he rode the 31 GO Bus along Steeles Avenue this past Saturday afternoon. The video gets real disturbing (and very NSFW) as the bus passes Hartford Trail.

It was uploaded to Twitter with nothing left to the imagination later in the day. This morning, it was sent to me as a link in an email. I was walking through the Bay Concourse when I watched it and stopped dead in my tracks when I realized what I was looking at.

I don't know where anything stands except the video (there are two) is still online. I'm not linking it. I can't. If you're resourceful and interested, you can find it.

The person who posted the video wants to be compensated for it, stating in a tweet to GO Transit: "I was very disturbed by what happened & was wondering if there was any way you can accommodate me for my uncomfortable experience..."

Really??? GTFO. So disturbed that he called Peel Regional Police? Contacted GO Transit himself? Called Transit Safety? The video was online for three days and the person did nothing about the incident.

Once you put something out on the Internet, it's out there, Who knows where the video is now as this person tagged a major Toronto news outlet and a viral video website. Anyone with screen recording software can capture the video. It's no longer his (or hers).

The person again tweeted GO Transit, "... and for helping with the investigation & before I take down my video, is there any way you can accommodate me for that?"

How about a big fat NO? How about you think about how other passengers feel, like myself, that you took no action???

A passenger on a bus is sharing his DNA openly on public transit. It's illegal. It's gross. It's wrong.

The videographer doesn't deserve a reward! You should have reported it.

I am also surprised GO Transit hasn't alerted its customers about this incident. That's disgraceful. As passengers, we should be concerned.

Man struck Friday night by VIA train is now a suspect in east Toronto murder

TORONTO May 9, 2015 -- A Friday murder in an east Toronto home is connected to a man who was struck by a VIA train later that afternoon, Toronto police told CityNews.

Police discovered a deceased female, reported to be a mother of three children, on Danzig Street near Morningside Avenue in Scarborough.

The suspect, believed to be the victim's ex-boyfriend, threw himself in front of a VIA train near the Markham Street overpass at Eglinton Avenue around 4:30 pm.

He was taken to hospital and believed to be in critical condition. Police said he expected to survive his injuries. The investigation into his injuries closed all rail traffic in the area for over three hours and suspended several GO trains headed eastbound, stranding thousands of commuters at Union Station.

Police have identified the victim as Suraiya Gangaram, 31. Lascelles Allen, 51, is accused of fatally stabbing Gangaram.

Friday sucked

But then it got better...

It started with one tweet, "I'm drinking alone at the Keg" and soon, by 8 pm, 17 other people who read this site who were on Twitter and stranded by the LSE cancellations, were with me at the Keg on York Street, drinking, eating and feeling proud of themselves that they worked up the nerve to come out.

Thankfully no one dialed up any crazy.

But I will never look at Mother Mary on anyone's front lawn the same way ever again. She will always be Mary in a Half Shell. Thanks Kevin.

I don't remember everyone's names and I apologize. I want to thank those who offered me rides and alternate routes via text and email, and I'm glad everyone got home.

I took the first reinstated GO train and it took two hours to arrive in Oshawa. Despite the thousands of people, the foot riders and bag riders were having none of it. My commuter rage nearly resulted in physical blows, squelched by other passengers who stepped in and assisted with getting these passengers to understand that, J.H.C., you CAN'T do THAT! Especially after people sat around Union waiting almost three hours for a train. Seats are for passengers. Douchebags. And too many to count.

It was a shit show but it was all made better because of "drank".

PS. Really do try the crab cakes - amaaazzzing ...

Metrolinx apologizes after Union GO bus terminal closed for filming

Metrolinx is apologizing after the filming of a movie caused the temporary closure of the GO bus terminal at Union Station Wednesday night.

The terminal was closed for about an hour-and-a-half for the filming of Suicide Squad, which stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto.
