Does a minute matter?

I'm pretty sure the 7:21 Oshawa-Union train left a minute before schedule this morning, not that I've synchronized my car clock, watch or Blackberry to GO Transit time or anything.
What gives?

A friend of mine in Brampton swears the grain leaves her Station a minute or two early fairly often.

Grain?

Is she on a CP Rail cargo train?

A minute can make a huge difference if you are not yet on the platform,

Didnt check my watch today to see if mine arrived/left early, but I have in the past had to wait at a stop an extra minute or two since they ariived early

That's what I was thinking... there were people left on the platform who probably didn't rush after getting coffee because they figured they had a minute to spare ... not nice I say.

When your train/bus is scheduled to leave at 7:21, that's when the door closes and they pull out of the station - not at 7:22. It's great entertainment to watch people run for the buses at Union thinking they have that extra minute....

I think the issue is more if the train pulls out at 7:20 or 7:19 istead. Sometimes you need that extra minute or two.

@Dan-1 There's a million excuses for leaving late, but none for leaving early....at least that's what some GO operators have told me :)

Unlike many rail operators, when the scheduled time to depart is 7:21, GO leaves at 7:21:00 while other operators leave at 7:21:59 …so yes GO is probably closing its doors at 7:20, but only to start moving at 7:21.
