Dear Sick Fellow Passengers

Look, I love you all. You're a great source of entertainment but you've got to start taking better care of yourselves. I'm sitting here at Ajax delayed while an ambulance comes to save you.
Hey, I'm being cool about it even tho signal problems caused me to be 45 minutes late for work yesterday and today, I'll once again have to stay late at work to make up the time and lose another evening to spend with my daughter.
Just make sure you stay home tomorrow.
Thanks

Why on earth did the ambulence take so long to turn up???

if the person was dying from a heart attack they would have been dead by the time that ambulance showed up. chest pains just don't start happening! stay home!

So it was chest pains that caused that delay this morning? God I wish these people would just not get on the train! That and pregnant women whose water breaks!

C'mon guys. I hope you're kidding here! If cardiac arrests were so predictable everybody would make it to emerg in time!

As a relatively new rider I'm astounded by the callous comments by riders when someone takes ill. Sorry for making you late for dinner, next time I'll plan my panic attack at a more convenient time!

The worst thing I've heard so far....a woman complaining about the person who died from suicide last month. Apparently she is really fed up with that kind of "crap".

I was annoyed. Sure. It's human nature, especially when it's something you can't control such as being able to leave the train and take a cab.

As for suicides, I do think it's pretty rotten people make such a public decision and force people like train operators and conductors as well as EMS and police into such a position.

My dad drives a big rig. 23 years ago a lady ran out in front of him from the side of the 401 near London, ON in a bid to end her life. My dad was able to miss her and wound jack-knifing in the process and if he had not moved to the shoulder like he did, could have possibly had that trailer swing hard enough to kill him if it moved towards the cab's driver side.

My dad didn't work for 8 months after that. As for the woman, she was then hit by a car in the middle lane. She did pass away later in hospital. The woman in the car who hit her was in such a state, she had to be hospitalized for shock even tho my dad told her repeatedly it wasn't her fault.

Horrible story but public suicides are terrible all around. Delays themselves are simply annoying and I think people write out of frustration not so much that they don't care.

CJ Smith, you have way too much time on your hands if this blog is what you do with your life.

Ahh ... hold on, give me a sec ... let me bask in the glory of my 1st controversial post. I am no stranger to it, trust me.

Too much time?! Eistein, listen, I ride a friggen commuter train 50 minutes two times a day. Way to point out the obvious there.

I wasn't "owned" or anything. Only a person who needs to make themselves holier than thou would make a blog like this or take the time to write one. It's mean and does nothing to heal the world.

Okay there, Michael Jackson. Personally I love this website. I read it every night before I go to bed. It's obvious you can't recognize satire. Oh well, sucks to be you.

Wow I can't believe it! I love how Anonymous goes on about your website being a "waste of time" meanwhile he/she has obviously had some free time to read it and repeatedly make stupid posts!

I love this blog! :)

Oh, and people shouldn't hide behind an "anonymous" tag... you could at least leave some sort of name. It's not liek you have to register or anything.

I don't take the Lakeshore East but the Lakeshore West. We have our share of stupidity and nonsense and the last suicide near Mimico caused me to miss a really important job interview. I was lucky enough to reschedule and actually got the job.
Depression is a serious mental illness and there are people who like myself will never understand why there are people who choose and yes I said CHOOSE to make their death a public affair. I also agree with CJ that bringing other innocent people into the horror is unfair and now the person is dead but look at what they leave behind for the people who witness what they did. Is that fair or right? And as for people getting sick on trains or pressing the alarm everyone has a right to an opinion and we call all express frustration but in the end we all want people to be safe so you know what? Don't act like you've never complained about a damn thing in your own life.

Amanda, I'm not acting like I've never complained about anything in my entire life! Not at all! I'm just a nurse that knows that people who decide to take their own life are not rational human beings. Their thought processes are not exactly in balance. I feel for everyone involved, including the unintended victims. But what I object to are people who make a derogatory comment when someone has died, not taking into consideration that maybe the person sitting beside them has lost a child or other loved one to suicide. I absolutely do not believe that the person who died by jumping in front of a train intended to disrupt others. They aren't suicide bombers, they're just lost. Any of us can lose someone this way.

BTW I'm just using anonymous because I'm too lazy to record another name/password.

There's a name field. It makes it easier to know who's saying what.

See the radio buttons below. Click the one next to name. Type in a name. Done!

All complaints aside, I'm still concerned about the time it takes for a medical team to respond to the emergency. Someone is ill, the train stops at the next station on the line, but where is the ambulance? Are GO stations THAT remote that it takes upwards of half an hour to get a response, or is the ambulance service over-used?
