Blame her the paper for its tardiness!

Anyone who is shocked by this latest development is likely new to the GO Transit world. I am not surprised in the least.

Let's be a little fairer Bicky in that the problem is with the builder being a dick and truly incompetent. It's much more expensive to pay them off and start anew than to muddle along.

Maybe Metrolinx should have put something in the contract like a cancellation clause or whatever but most likely who could know how bad this builder would perform? Other projects like UPX, the Union renovations, the stations currently under renovation, grade separations and especially the new West Harbour station all are on time and budget (or very close to being so). None of those contractors have performed as poorly as Bondfield.

That being said, it's the last contract Bondfield will get from Metrolinx.

Considering how long it takes them to renovate a platform (Ajax took more than a year if I remember right and now Pickering is proceeding at a snail's pace), I'm not the least bit surprised.

What is most shameful of all of this is that they are almost done putting in the accessibility tunnels and whatnot at Eglinton. They have been at it for less than 4 months. Yet 2 years later, Pickering is still waiting on 2 flipping elevators.

I went home sick Monday morning, which means that I was going through Pickering around 10am. I saw 10 people standing around. 1 other one was moving 2x4s around.

George, you get what you pay for. Or in this case, don't pay. Lowest bid not always the best.

Whitby parking garage was 6+ months late in opening a few years ago.

I've been hearing announcements at Pickering for about 2+ years now. How long does it take to build an elevator shaft? And don't give me the crap about the elevator supplier's strike. They could have been prepping the station in the meantime.

In other news GO Transit's Hamilton Station opened this morning on time.

I wonder if it had to put with "Cold winters" as well?
