D-DAY is August 17 - Oh yes, your Monday will be AWESOME - Operation MAMPTYS

No sooner did Karen emerge from her fetal position from April's platform changes, will she find herself curled up in a corner, muttering, "Make it stop..." come Monday, August 17.

That's our D-Day folks. That's the day Metrolinx initiates Operation Move A Million People To York Street or "MAMPTYS" for short.

Officially the Bay Concourse closes August 16, but who cares about Sunday? Only Jays fans care about Sundays. I'm not downtown on a Sunday! It's Monday I'm interested in.

You know this will be the biggest gong show ever. Popcorn vendors should be fighting at the City Hall licensing office for permits.

What can we expect? Well, for starters, I'm sure there will be people wandering around asking:

"You mean I have to walk further...?"

"Can I take the subway there..?"

"Is there food...?"

"But this is where I always buy my coffee..."

"Will there be food...?"

"How will I get to the subway...?"

"Do I still have to go outside...?"

"Can I buy food...?"

GO Transit is offering some advice to those who really hate change. It's advice myself (and Bicky ... and Squiggles ...) have suggested before...

Try the route in advance.

Don't wait 'til Monday at 4:45 pm.

I'll have my violin handy, trust me.

As we prepare to say goodbye to the GO Bay Concourse, let's take a look back (it's a short read)

I'm glad I read this blog. I hadn't heard anything about the exact date the Bay concourse was going to be closed (had just heard that it was going to happen, not when).

Aw, crap. And the York Concourse has been so pleasant... now it's going to turn into the sh*t show that the Bay Concourse usually is. What blows me away is that they're closing the Bay Concourse for two years. Two years! They must be hiring the same guys doing Burlington Station.

Yay! Honourable mention!

And yes, it is wonderful advice. It will be a gong show.

The posters should be up soon ... ?

Here's hoping Metrolinx takes it one step further and posts the construction notices on the trains, too.

Right on the doors. Peel and stick. Blam!

Darn it now I have to share the empty concourse I considered my personal space.

I haven't used the main concourse for years so the closing won't affect me at all. Yay me!

Damn it. I do that every day (my office is west), and it's sooo much easier to get off the platform and out of the station. DAMN IT!!!!!

I also hadn't heard anything about this. Thanks, I guess?, for the heads up!

Roll with the punches, people. It's all for the greater good!

Karen is so over this that she insists upon reading and commenting on the post she's so over.

You know, just so we're all aware that She. Is. So. Over. This...

...Obviously.

on the plus side, the bay concourse wont be stuck in the 1970s after this is all done (whenever that maybe....lol)

I dont wanna share my space. That's my area. Now people?

Ugh...

Of course, it just means the same people will walk further back down the track to get to 'their space' because we are mainly creatures of habit. I love switching my trains and my seat around - I'm regular enough that other "regular enoughs" don't know if they've stolen "my" seat, or I've stolen theirs lol!

^ Change is hard.

Hopefully the Bay concourse will get a new bathroom designer hired to bring it up to modern bathroom standards. Really, who uses the same colour tiles everywhere these days?

;)

I'm on vacation next week so I'll miss the pre-closing grumbling and complaining.

The BAY concourse currently is one big bathroom...
