GO Transit shutting down app, pushes riders to mobile site

GO Transit has retired its mobile app in favour of its mobile website for smartphone users. The app, which was designed in conjunction with Ryerson University, had technical issues that couldn’t be resolved without “significant” work, said Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins.

Good move, I guess, since the app was clunky to use or didn't work most of the time. Long time coming though.

There's no mention of the GO Tracker! That's an awesome tool and needs more publicity. Works great on a smartphone and the desktop version will show where the trains are along the route and if there's delays.

I like the mobile website. Never downloaded or used the app.

Never used the app (though it was downloaded to a tablet), but I hope that they continue with the text message alerts. I use/rely on those the most.
