Wow. Is there a line you won't cross?
Did he give you permission to publish his email? His name? To send him a friend request???
When you sent that friend request you harrassed him and made him fear for his safety. Of course he would change his privacy. What is wrong with you? Are you retarded?
You are breaking the law, Cindy J. Smith. In fact, you broke the law when you published Vito's email.
We are a family who has close friends in the law community.
I suggest you conduct yourself accordingly.

Hi Melanie!

Man, am I ever glad to hear from someone who can give me some info about Vito. I became worried when he didn't accept my friend request and I could no longer find him on Facebook.

I hope he's all right.

I want to know where he bought his shoes because I asked him in my comment, after I asked him to please not put his feet on the seat. Just so we're clear, I'm talking about the photo he publicly uploaded to Instagram? He was on a GO train. I know this because he hashtagged his photo #gotrain which is how I search for photos to peruse what fun stuff, nonsense, shenanigans, etc. people are observing or want to share about the GO train. Because, you know, Instagram being public and all, and with me being big into social media, it's what drives my website.

Vito is big into social media too and had no concerns about who could look at his photos, I gathered, because he used he full legal name online which anyone could read. Is Vito short for Vittario? I always wanted to know. I went to school with a Vittario but he asked to be called Vee. I wonder what happened to him? Anyway, is Vito a Florsheim or Aldo kind of guy?

Boy, he was real proud of those shoes because in his Instagram pic, he mentioned in another hashtag he bought them at the Eaton Centre.

My comment was made out of concern and admiration (they really are a smart pair of shoes). I was concerned because I didn't know if he had worn those shoes as he walked from the Eaton Centre to Union Station. That would have been one slushy, salt-stained walk. And see, that kind of shoe dirt doesn't belong on a GO train seat. Mind you, Vito told me in his email the shoes were dry so maybe he put them on while on the train and then put his feet on the seat for the photo? It's hard to tell.

Vito asked me not to reply to his email because he said he wouldn't read it. He didn't say I couldn't contact him on Facebook (also in the public domain). Is Vito in the phone book? He may want to call up Bell or whoever and get that looked at if he's worried about privacy. I have close friends in the telecommunications industry. I'm sure I can find someone willing to help him out.

Thank you so much for contacting me. It's been very frustrating not being able to explain my side.

I trust I've made my point?

Take care.

Regards,
Cindy J. Smith

You forgot to tell Melanie that you live with two lawyers!

Man, will you share any further replies? I've got a whole bag of popcorn ready to go in the microwave.

Sometimes this blog truly does write itself.

Vito and Melanie are the ones who are "retarded". Other than names, no other personal information was disclosed.

Melanie needs a hot bath and some wine. Calm down, girl.

If poor Vito's got a landline, it doesn't matter if he's got it listed in the phone book or not. Once it goes out onto the interwebz, it's there forever. Pretty sure it was a matter of time before someone did this:

http://www.whitepages.ca/name/V-Loreti/Ontario

I'm banking on entry #1; given that #2, living in Toronto, likely wouldn't be on a GO Train.

LOL MEL! I too come from the legal community and you need to get your facts straight. Vito published his own full legal name, all CJ did was share what he already did. If you want to stay private, don't post stuff on the interwebs using your real name. It's that simple. This is not about privacy, or cyber-bullying. It's about people, like me, who have to sit on seats dirtied by ignorant people. Whether a shoe is wet or not is irrelevant. If you walk in public spaces, where all sorts of dirt and germs are present (ever been behind someone who's dog uses the sidewalk as a toilet???), then you are tracking that shit (literally) everywhere you go. If you wouldn't put your shoes on your own couch, then don't put them on public seats.

My BIL is an assisstant Ontario attorney general.

He laughs at people who think public information on the web is provate and needs the owners permission to publish elsewhere.

Another loser who doesn't understand law.

I would suggest she get new lawyers for her legal advice, or else stop lying about her friends.

Good grief. We're supposed to be adults, functioning in a civilised society. Seems like GO Transit-land is a frickin' free for all these days.

Someone is gonna snap one day and it ain't gonna be pretty.
