Map about new GO Concourse hallway highlights everything (almost) about GO Concourse

This map is to show that a new hallway has opened up inside the GO Transit Concourse at Union Station.

I didn't see the "new hallway" at first. I was too busy looking at all the man shoveling icons. Then I was like, there are stairs to Platform 12/13 on the west side of that tunnel to the ACC?! Then I closed the file and forgot that I originally opened it to view the new hallway which is being reconfigured starting today. I'm surprised that Dairy Queen (correction: McDonalds is also noted but with the wrong color background) and was the only fast food chain noted. If I was Mr, Sub, I'd be pretty upset. Based on this map alone, everybody has to meet up at the Dairy Queen. Good luck to your Auntie Jenna whom you told to stand in front of the Cinnabon. She's now lost.

FROM GO TRANSIT
Please be advised that the passageway between the VIA Arrivals Concourse and GO Transit’s Bay Concourse (McDonald’s hallway) will be reconfigured on May 15, 2014. Customers can continue to access the GO Concourse, Bay Street and TTC Station from the new passageway. Please see the reverse side of this notice for a wayfinding map. We apologize for any inconvenience. This construction is part of the City of Toronto’s continued revitalization work at Union Station. This work will complement GO Transit’s construction of the modern train shed at platform level.

AND BY REQUEST (when you see it)

Yup. I use that Platform 12/13 access point.

I knew where the new tunnel is and it has been built and use-able for a month now or so, but that map. Grrr. I couldn't make hide nor hair of it.

As long as the Purdy's chocolates shop next to the TTC subway entrance is still there Aunt Jenna will never get lost!

"wayfinding"?

Did someone from the 1800s write this?

there's also the big M (not just DQ)

The graphic designer in me has so many questions for the "artist" who put this hot mess together. Why Dairy Queen?

Okay, did anyone else look at those stairs to nowhere and think WTF?! C'mon Guy, there must have been a better way to depict that...

Goof thing you pointed out DQ so I could figure out where I was!

Why is there a ramp in front of McDonalds? I also find the new hallway location confusing, except that the second set of stairs up from the Via Arrivals is missing. I'm assuming missing stairs = new tunnel.

Why are all the Tardis' seem to have a different size? Is that some kind of timey-wimey thing?

It's a good thing I don't know how to do Photoshop. I would be changing all of those man shoveling icons and simply flip the image of the man so that it would no longer look like he shoveling that pile.

Ron? Just for you... I'm doing it.

@Ron

There is a ramp that runs right in front of the Mickey D's.

As well, they did remove one set of stairs for the new hallway. That set has been closed for a while now.

And side note: there was a ramp that lead from the VIA concourse to the the street that was just west of the McDs. That is now gone.

Look at all the Tardises!

Eventually that whole Bay side concourse will be closed. And the York side concourse will be open.

Of course, in GO time, that could be another couple of years before that happens.

CJ that is funnier than I thought! Great job. Can I add one more suggestion to your new and improved map? Change the message at the bottom to "Thank you for washing your hands."

Can someone tell me how to get to platform nine and three quarters?

Wanna know why I didn't notice the McDonalds? That's not the correct branded logo. Background should be red, not blue. Who did this map?!

Someone should tweet this map - with the pointer to the blue background - to McDonald's and see how much shit the people in charge get into. (Probably none)

Where is the Cinnabon??

I had my first experience of this map last night, rushing to catch my train. It would be really helpful if there were "You Are Here" stickers at the various posted map locations. Not everyone is familiar with Toronto, or Union Station. The map only works if you are familiar with the landmarks.
