So don't buy a condo near railway tracks?

I live very close to Baseline in Courtice which is a road that runs parallel to a freight corridor. Trains run all day and all night.
When we decided to buy a house south of Highway 2, we knew we'd be dealing with the rumble and sounds of trains, especially at night.
I find it annoying to listen to the whistle stops but we KNEW this. No way would I then start complaining on social media about it.
We made that choice.

When I was house shopping several years ago, it seemed like the only ones in my price range were next to tracks.

They were all vetoed because of noise. And my slight paranoia of a derailment.

It's like the people who buy near the airport because they travel a lot and want the convenience and then complain of all the airplanes overhead.

After a while, I'd think you'd not hear the trains.

Hopefully. One day. Not yet though. 2 am and 4 am are the worst.

I used to do what these guys are doing for a living.
The complaining jerk should have a P-811 or a tamping crew shoved up his wazoo.

To be fair I have to put up with all sorts of construction along the Lakeshore east corridor. I understand that work has to be done at night but some of the workers are hollering. Metrolinx should make some attempt to at least inform the home owners of what the work is and how long it's needed and ask the workers to try and keep the banter at a reasonable volume.

Yes I bought near the tracks but I didn't bargain on weeks and weeks of construction. It's just about being a good neighbour.

^ Fair enough.

At least it will end eventually!

One of the consequences of living in a "default" world comprising "default" societies.

Can anyone else imagine those guys singing "Ive been working on the railroad"?

I sure can when I turn the whiners sound off.

I live 2km form Hwy 401, and can often hear the roar of traffic from that. I feel I'm far enough away that I am justified in monaing. (We rejected a house that was RIGHT BY the 401. Also, it was haunted)
