Parking like a "hero"

Photos w/captions submitted by email to cj@thiscrazytrain.com. Taken this morning at 8am. Oshawa GO Parking Lot.

If the GO Parking Enforcement Officers leave Toronto before noon, there's enough time to get there and issue tickets. Whatever helps prevent a fare increase, I'm all for it.

This wasn't a case of parking not being available. This is just lazy, lazy abuse and poor enforcement. It's people like these jerks who are paving the way for pay-for-use parking for the rest of us, where one day, it won't be free to park at GO stations.

There are people who already pay $70 to hold a spot in the reserved section and I've learned that paying doesn't deter the abuse nor does GO Transit take measures to ticket and tow those who ignore the signs.

This is a real problem and it needs to be addressed. It's not just a winter thing, is it?

i think for the most part its a winter thing, there are some people who park in the summer on the yellow lines at the end of the rows. That is most likely because there simply arent enough spots.
Go transit has been working on those issues.

The last couple of nights I've seen people parking in the motorcycle spots. Props to the person in the van the other night that backed in between the two metal bike-locking-posts. I'm not sure how they were able to open the doors though...

i think we should start a contest to see who can park the most f'd up... like half on the curb, in the bushes etc. that would be funny. im going to start monday, maybe a picture might make this site!!

In think CJ should have a printable sheet for us to keep handy when you see a " turnip" you can put it on their windshield, "to see how stupid you are please go to" www.thiscrazytrain.com

something like that.

I am the suggestor, and I was just thinkig it may be harmful to you to infact do this if perhaps said Turnip decides that this is an invasion of privacy or assault to personal property, I would hate to have you in toruble for soemthing someoen else has placed on someone else's car, ultimately it references your website so you woul dbe the end target.

Please speak to your lawyers first to anticipate any harmful effects.

Not.fast.enough.

My station is chronically short of parking, so 'parking where you want' and taking up extras spaces would likely invite a beatdown of your vehicle, if not your actual person.

We're supposed to be getting a bigger lot when they build the new 'GO' condos*, but who knows when that will happen.

*I can't make this crap up. They're building a condo/GO station collaboration at Mimico.

It's one thing to reference a website but how could the person figure out who the dude is?

What I would suggest is that you post a poster at the GO station that says don't park like an asshole and put a link to this website that shows all the asshole parking.

Isn't that not better? And no one is harmed. If someone recognizes their car, good ... how does that result in assault?

Actually they're not. I emailed them about the lack of parking recently and they specifically said in their reply that they aren't doing anything about the parking in Oshawa. I started parking in Whitby because I couldn't get a spot in Oshawa half the time.

They are not going to do anything at Oshawa because the plan is to build a new station north of the 401. This is part of the expansion plans to add 4 more stations east of Oshawa.
