For those who don't follow me on Twitter, I found this Saturday night

I had walked through a few coaches, randomly looking for a clean seat, before spotting it in a coach two away from the locomotive. It's a bell. It works. It is awesome.

I had a brief discussion with a few passengers who were exiting at Union (I boarded at Mimico) who said it had been there from as far back as Burlington.

There's no inscription. I have no idea who carries a bell. Why?

I called GO Transit Lost and Found; no one has reported a bell missing.

This may be the one time IN MY LIFE, where I may use the finders-keepers rule. Cj needs a bitch bell.

Think of the foot riders! Just sneak up behind and ding-a-ling-a-ling.

I don't know what it was about this post that made me chuckle, but ESPECIALLY the "ding-a-ling" part.

I wonder if it was for the parade that happened over the weekend?

That would be totally worth the price of admission.

No idea what's it from. Why it would be on the train. Who would carry one...

But until someone claims the thing, it's mine. There is something distinct inside that the owner would have to be able to describe, so don't even try it you trolls.

Reminds me of Public school recess time.
If you ring it and I'm in the car, you may find someone lining up at the door.....

Yes I am that old.

George,
That's what my mom said!!! She's retired now but it's what she took it for. It's in my front hallway. I think I will take it cycling tonight. GET OUT OF MY WAY you skateboarding punk.

Maybe it's for the new GO Transit's Bike Patrol Unit. It isn't very clear what their role is. But our transit fares are getting stretched everywhere but areas where it is needed. More train service, more parking........

Well .... I hope u have a guilty conscious ... someone might actually need that bell ... I hope that u don't lose any of your belongings on the train ... I know if I ever found something, I would turn it in to lost and found.
May god be with your every decision.

What the hell does God have to do with a bell? Oh and I need some help with the FOUND posters I made to hang up at the stations between Burlington and Mimico. You in? I figure since no one has yet reported it lost I should be much more proactive. And please, I did leave something on the train, just last year, a watch and wallet I bought my husband as father's day/birthday gift. Right under the seat. In a Bay bag. And guess what? No one turned it in. But I'm not mad. I'm the one who forgot it. No one wrote about finding it on a website read by thousands of people. No one called GO asking if the loss had been reported. No one put an ad in the paper or in the tonight magazine shout out section or even thought to post the find on Twitter. Imagine that. Oh the humanity!!!

God probably has a lot to do with bells. After all, every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings. Some guy named Jimmy told me that once on the train. Or maybe I half dreamt it that time last Christmas when I fell asleep on my train ride home. The trip that was delayed over an hour when winter struck Canada for the first time ever. Maybe the bell was lodged under a seat ever since that night, only to be knocked free by someone cooling their summery toes on top of the seat across from them.

I have checked with everyone in car 2143 on the 6:35 LSW train. No one on board had admitted ownership. I think it is yours to keep. Possession is nine-tenths of the law on the GO Train. Which I guess is why I am in possession of a half-eaten apple someone must have forgotten on the train. Perhaps I should turn this in to lost and found so I can have the clear conscious that you have been accused of lacking.

CJ, don't you know every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings? That's the connection.

It seems like the right thing to do to return it to lost and found. Just sayin'

^ I think I've made it pretty clear what's going on here.

Thanks for judging. I appreciate it.

"Thanks for judging"? You write a blog with content that is entirely focused on judging others. Your focus has really changed and this site is not as funny as it used to be.

C.J. Smith said...

^ This is true. I judge people for rude behavior but where did I say I would not help find its owner. So far, no one has reported it.

Better watch out. There's an old law still on the books in Pickering that says "depriving the Town Crier of the tooles of his trade" is an offence punishable by "tarring and feathering" and/or "three days in the stockade in the Towne Square."

Pardon me, but you're confusing shaming with judging. Two totally different things.

Shaming people for bad GO train behaviour is what this site does. CJ, don't pander. You don't judge anyone. You don't know any of these people. For all you know, half of the footriders on here are probably the nicest peeps around who are just unaware of their douchey wears.

However, those who kept telling CJ to turn in the bell (which is a great song title) are assuming she has no intention to help find the owner when she's made it clear she does. And some of the comments? You are JUDGING her.

So stop. Thanks.

Has anyone else had Anita Ward stuck in their head ever since reading this thread?CJ, I curse you for triggering an onslaught of deeply repressed memories from the 70's disco era, but my therapist thanks you for the extra business.

Bell owner is still MIA. Only 22 more days to go ... then, "Ring my bell-ell-elllll, ring my bell, ring-a-ling-ling!"

Bicky said...

Keep us posted if the owner of the bell turns up. I really hope they don't get in trouble for losing it.

If the owner of the bell is anything like my mother, I hope so too.
