So about that extra penny in fare...

GO Transit gave me an explanation that remains unacceptable (through no fault of theirs I want to add) re: Presto's penny-skimming off my morning fare for the past 10 months based on my bus-train tap sequence.

I have been assured this method of rounding up because the software can't calculate 1/2 of a cent based on the Presto card discount is expected to be resolved by February 2014's fare increase.

How nice.

I've also been encouraged to apply for a credit in February for the pennies collected. The onus is up to each GO Transit customer to make a request. No one plans on contacting you if you're affected by this software conundrum.

I still have to ask, what happens to the money collected that no one asks for back?

Well, Presto?

Wouldn't it be nice if they just simply fixed the problem and refunded the money to your Prestocard without asking?

Bonus: A nice little note to your Presto account saying "Sorry, we goofed, here's a small refund with a little interest."

If Presto can charge you an "overdraft" fee, why can't you charge the same fee each time they take too much money?

OH MY GOD. THAT WOULD BE TOO SIMPLE!!!!

Its simple. Once a month I dont bother tapping and hope for the best and it has worked for me all the time.

Presto shoudl just round down. Doesn't matter if it's x.95 or or x.05. It's not worth the hassle to round up half the time.

This may not make you feel any better, but presto is "skimming" money from the drivers as well.. Unless one keeps track it's been upwards of 30$ in one day.
