Is this some kind of epidemic?

How hard is it to keep one's shoes on when riding a public commuter train? Everyone in this quad has them off.
I understand that to TTC commuters the GO train is akin to riding in a limo but still ... it's not your living room.
It was also pointed out to me in email that the lady in the foreground conducted an entire phone conversation using her speaker phone while holding her phone to her ear. She must have been deaf after that call.

It really is an epidemic! I've seen how it spreads... Patient-Zero takes off their shoes and puts their feet up. The infection spreads. Patient-One sees this and thinks "If she can do it, I can do it"... and then it spreads again.. exponentially now, until everyone is infected (probably with foot fungus).

Heck if I took my shoes off in the train on the way home I'd have a private car, or at least a private level. :)
