So rude

It never ceases to amaze me the disrespect others have for cleanliness.

Check out this mess sent in by KS. She writes:

About 3 weeks ago I came across this mess...an abandoned coffee and Tim's treat. The bag still had a muffin or donut in it!

What kind of panic was this person in to leave a nearly full cup of coffee (on a very unstable seat) and food behind?!

The silver lining: At least it was the vinyl seats. Easier to clean up!

But still, gross. I look at the people bringing the crap onto the train and wonder when it will end up in my lap.

Who cares? GO has janitors. Big deal

I'm pretty sure you're the type of person to use a picnic table at a park or table in a food court and leave without cleaning up after yourself, thotso.

@Thotso: Yes, there are janitors. But that is not the point. In polite society, which we are supposed to be a part of, the crap you bring onto public transportation is the same crap you are supposed to take off the train with you.

Besides, the janitors only clean the train after it has been taken out of service, which could be after several runs have been done. Would you like to either A) stand for your entire trip because the seat is ruined or B) sit in the ruined seat?

On a side note, betcha you are one of those dears at the food court who leaves a table full of garbage because the cleaners need something to do to retain their jobs.

oH pLEASE. Spare me the violins. You can wax poetic all you want but don't act like you never left a tonight newspaper or Metro/24 hrs under your seat. Litter is litter. Yep, it's gross this coffee spilled but all it takes is for you fat asses is a trip to the bathroom to grab some paper towel and voila! You have a seat. God forbid someone other than the janitor clean it!

There's a difference between leaving behind a piece of paper and food/drinks. If the drink was a bottle of pop or juice with a lid, I don't think it would have been so bad. But the fact that someone left those items with the knowledge that they would spill/leave a mess is rude and a sure sign of ignorance.

The argument that someone else other than a janitor should clean it is moot. If the person was considerate in the first place, there wouldn't be a need for someone else to fix their mistakes.

What a piece of work.

I strongly disagree. If you've sat in food courts or picnic tables where other people have left their crap behind, you mean to tell me you've stood, waited for a busboy, never cleaned off a table so you can sit?

The thing is, this is public space. There are assholes everywhere. Quit whining, be part of the solution and clean it. If you don't want to then I stand by my original comment. Wait for the janitor.

People have been littering since the dark ages.

@thotso: Jason, is that you?

Name's Myles. Dunno a Jason.

The issue is resources. At a food court, I have ample locations to deposit trash and grab handfuls of napkins within 5 feet of my seat/table. On a GO Train, there washrooms are (slightly) out of the way and do not share the same resources as a food court or other public area.

Would you really look at that mess, go to the washroom, grab tissue, go about cleaning the seat and floor and then sit? I doubt it. And knowing humanity these days, someone would watch you clean the area and as you were gone to throw the wet tissues in the trash, would grab your seat.

for the amount we pay we should have better janitors on the train!
you would think GO transit would have some guy making $60,000/year employed to clean the train before its next trip.. come on GO, get with the other government run agencies.

oh look a troll *yawn*

Litterbugs are nothing but lazy fucks and they annoy me.

He must have seen a CA board the train and taken off in a hurry to try to avoid a fine for not having a ticket!

thotso/Miles = Jason. Or at least the same mentality.

"I can litter however thyself sees fit, ye peons of lower class society should clean said mess if thy hasn't a butler or the royal GO janitor is nary in sight to pick up after messy patrons."

**raises hands** I've left t.o.night on the seat before but that's nothing compared to what this idiot did.
