I took the 12:13pm LSE today. I had to bust out of work early to fetch my daughter and ferry her off to the doctor's which is where I am now. She's been running a high fever since Saturday and an emerg visit Monday night resulting in antibiotics hasn't appeared to be working. Thank goodness for car chargers. My BB battery died on the train. Right in the middle of my last post - the essay.
I had to pee real bad. Normally I try to avoid using the washrooms on the train. But I had two extra large coffees in my stomach and my bladder was crying "Uncle".
I went into one of the larger bathrooms. What happened next is forever burned in my brain.
I did my thing. I put the seat down. I flushed. I turned to wash my hands. I hadn't even turned on the water yet before I was startled by this large, vacuous gurgling sound. Then there was a loud "pop" and a splatter. Thank Christ I did put the seat down or else I would have been covered in shit. Brown sludge oozed its way from under the seat. I jumped back in horror, fumbling for the lock on the bathroom door. The gurgling sound intensified. I bolted from the bathroom and shut the door behind me.
The only other person on the coach was a woman who was staring at me wide-eyed as I stood outside the bathroom door. I asked her if she heard that. She asked me what it was. I told her. Then I asked her if she had any hand sanitizer and thankfully, she did. When I went to give the sanitizer back to her, she told me to keep it.
This is where the conversation got awkward. I guess, given the circumstances, I would have done the same thing.

What's wrong with your daughter CJ? Five days with a fever isn't right. There's a lot going around right now so it could be viral. What did the doctor say?

My 27-year-old boyfriend had mono for the past few weeks. MONO! At that age, I find it almost laughable. Poor guy had a fever, sore throat, chills/sweats and a rash for most of the month. Hopefully your daughter doesn't have mono (I think she's too young?) and something more easily treatable.
Vanessa, mono has no age restrictions. You are still thinking about it as the "kissing disease", but people have been known to pick it up from water fountains.
Yep. The doc thinks mono. Have to let it run its course.
I'm a little biased with the age restriction, yes. We think it might have been a bar we went to once in the past month or so. Ah well.
