For you, my Pop Tart lovers

Remember the big ol' debate we had a few weeks back about me and my inability to eat breakfast? By the way, I hopped on that bandwagon for approximately 11 days - a record. It didn't take long for me to go back to skipping.

I made bagels and forgot them. I made a banana smoothie only to feed it to my daughter while driving her to daycare. When she saw it, her eyes grew as big as globes and she begged, "Oh, mummy, that looks delicious and I'm sooo thirsty!" My kid barely eats fruit so I saw an opportunity and ran with it. Going hungry knowing my kid got some potassium in her seemed like a good bet.

I bought a box of granola bars and promptly left them in the car where they baked all day and melted into a gooey mess. Same goes with the boiled eggs (I planned on secretly videotaping people's reactions when I popped the Tupperware lid - when they were fresh). I left those in the car, too. I discovered them about a week later and chased my husband around the garage, threatening to open the container. Good times.

I was going to try the nut thing until the comments about allergies stopped me dead in the aisle of the Bulk Barn. So I bought chocolate-covered raisins and promptly ate them all the night before the next morning's ride.

Which leaves me with, oh yes, it's coming. Pop Tarts.

There's a poll for you. Top right, before the Twitter feed.

on my georgetown train, this woman has egg salad every morning which she stores in a margarine container and eats with chopsticks

I still miss the frosting-free PopTarts.

Have you tried the Special K Fruit Crisps? They are similar enough and I'm sure are lower in calories. The only downside is they are fairly pricy, but when they are on sale you can stock up.

I do not eat on the train, nor on the bus to the train station. I don't really enjoy strangers watching me eat. I'd rather do it in my cubicle.

Male, business exec, and I still at 28 years old grab a chocolate chip pop-tart each morning before I leave the house. It is the most important meal of the day.

Ohhhhhhh Anon@2:28, if only I was younger, you'd my dream man, someone who realizes that PopTarts are the most important meal of the day OR as I believe, should be included on the Canada Food Guide. Imagine having breakfast in bed on Sunday morning, you with your chocolate chip PT and me with my frosted raspberry. We could have a romantic getaway in NYC at PopTart World in Times Square. Ohhhh, a girl can dream.

You've gotta have breakfast within 60 minutes of getting up. I start with a shake with chocolate protein shake, Greens and ground flaxseed. Lots of nutrition and it keeps me full for a couple hours.

@Teena - nope, flaxseed would never enter my body. I hate (well, not really) all you healthy eaters. I have a nice balance of healthy and pure crap, with the scales slightly towards the crap.

@lswgirl13: Except for the minor age difference, I am beginning to think we were separated at birth.

@Teena: we know we need to eat breakfast. The issue most of us face is that we are up so bloody early the thought of food is stomach-churning.

I get up at 5. I am at work by 7:30. Once there, I can eat my blueberries and cottage cheese. Or in the winter plain oatmeal and raisins.

Teena I love you ;)

throw some chia seeds in your smoothie!! they are amazing, they have protein, fibre and they are simply an amazing thing to put in your body. I put them in my smoothies with veggie greens, yogurt, pom juice and protein powder and frozen strawberries. yum yum yummy in my tummy !

people, all that processed food you're eating is gonna kill you and/or give you cancer eventually.

Food: Material, usually of plant or animal origin, that contains or consists of essential body nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals, and is ingested and assimilated by an organism to produce energy, stimulate growth, and maintain life.

I said it before, and I'm saying it again. Poptarts are not food. They may have carbs fat and protein, but they are surely not of plant or animal origin, and the only growth they stimulate is fat around your organs.
